10 on 10 – August

I’m pretty impressed that I have not missed a 10 on 10 since I started.  We had a quick and unexpected visit from my friend and step-monster, Carrie (AKA: Nonna). She is always fun to be around and has a great attitude that rubs off on me and helps keep me positive. I wish we lived closer! The kids and I had to finish up some back-to-school shopping, so Nonna wondered the outlet mall (she’s a pro) while we finished up. Laid back, fun day. Plenty of beauty in our …

10 on 10 – July

July 10 on 10 was a practically kid free Saturday. Which almost never happens. Very lazy. Jack and Emily have gone on a road trip with Emily’s Granny. We needed a sitter for Jack for a couple of days while we go to Denver for work and Granny took him on for a whole week. We’re pretty lucky. I’ve never been away from him for more than five days - I already miss him. Noah is trying to book himself up to avoid being home without his siblings. Kinda cute.

10 on 10 – June

June 10 on 10 was supposed to happen on a road trip to meet our friends in Dallas to watch Bingham. Instead it was a day around the house. Figures. I think I still pulled it out. Emily’s at camp and the boys hung out with me all day. I’ve been enjoying spending my summer with the kids. Lot’s of reading and learning going on . . . and playing.

The explanation: I learned about 10 on 10 from Alysha Gray  (in January via Twitter, see my other 10 on 10’s) and …

My Ambivalent Affair with Lists

Little scraps of paper hold me together. Each piece soaked in a homemade solution of effort mixed with anxiety and then layered one strip at a time over the clutter, chaos, and disarray; Clair salmagundi. These pieces of paper are lists. Ordinary registers of tasks or goals scrawled on every kind of paper that followed me through the stages of my life; from Holly Hobby notebooks to my standard yellow notepad. . If I were to crawl inside each memory and poke around a little, I would find at least …

13 Tips to Improve Your Interviewing Ears

People tell me the strangest things. My husband is frequently amazed by the stories I recount from random people I cross paths with throughout my day; everyone from crossing guards to grocery clerks tell me stories that should be saved up for professional counseling or maybe even the cops. For most of my life I assumed I had a sort of weirdness magnet and in a way I do, but mostly what I do is listen and ask. Every person has a crazy story and even boring people have an …
